Stop the Undying Cycle
We have been very keen to our observations
We may have judged people and judged by people
The looks, the actions, the things that you might consider
The results, the consequences, the failures that someone encountered
Have you tried being judged?
And, have you think many times in your life that you have judged someone wrong?
Judging someone is easy to do
but listening to someone’s stories before judging is the hardest
I have talked to many people
Different personalities, different races, different religions
Different environments, different perceptions, different capabilities
Listening has been the most reliable source of understanding
No. It is not the reliable source of truth
because tongues will sway and deceive you
Rather, it is how to know the different sides of the stories
To know the cause and effects of the actions.
And to think for a better solution to their problems.
When there are unending arguments, quarrels, fights
unending rebuttals, vengeance, and oppositions,
Not all sides have specific entities of right and wrong.
All sides sometimes have flaws
However, they are both wrong – Always
Because fixing your mindset to your own understanding
is like covering your ears using your defensive mind
without listening to every word you are hearing.
Thus, it triggers hatred and small branches of hatred
spreading that contagious negativity to other people.
Dwelling on hatred and grudge is absolutely wrong
but to forgive and be forgiven strengthens relationships.
I know it’s kinda hard.
I, myself, had judged people
I have hated their actions, their words, their lies
But listening to their stories made me realize
that every evil mantra that lingers within a person has roots and foundations
Hence, every negative gut feeling you had is not always right as well
I have put myself fully to every sole of their feet
And asked myself, who am I to judge?
I have been bullied, I have been discriminated
I have failed, I have been underestimated
I have been blamed, I have been taken for granted
I have been stabbed and have been betrayed.
People judged me that easily by their one-sided perception
But to judge someone is just as same as those people who have judged me
Who am I to judge I say.
I ask this to you again, who are you to judge them?
As Jesus said, those who have not sinned throw the first stone.
It applies to every part of our lives; believe me.
We should always bear this in mind, be our guide and not forget
for our mind may forget the words but our heart should remember.
Everytime I ask that to myself, I kneel in my mind
and say, I am not compassionate enough to others
as Jesus has been so selfless to those who were mocked by people
He went to the tax collector’s house and had dinner with the sinners.
He had forgiven a woman taken in adultery.
If Jesus had done those, who are we to fetch and cast that stone?
What happens when we offer our hands to those who fail instead?
What happens when we offer our shoulders to those who stumble instead?
What happens when we offer our company to those who are bullied instead?
What happens when we offer our ears to those who need someone to talk to instead?
What happens when we share our happiness to those who are broken instead?
What happens when we appreciate those who are discriminated instead?
What happens when we forgive our enemies instead?
It may not ease the pain, lessen the burden and stop the undying cycle.
But for sure, it will make a huge difference.
You will breed love, happiness and hope.
The life, the world and that undying cycle may cease someday.
Don’t be just a preacher that talks
But a doer that acts by heart.
My Prayer:
I confess to you almighty God
and help us release all the negative thoughts
to make us realize that every person in our lives
is much more important than our small hatred.
And such small acts of forgiveness
could heal that deep wound as well.
We may not have that big confidence to take that big step
to move forward and easily forgive
but I know for sure that taking small steps
could help us soften that big harden pride inside
which we could ultimately practice
because time doesn’t always heal.
What heals is your forgiveness.
To let go and be free. Amen.
